Morning Glory and Cherry Blossom – Original artwork (11x11") by renowned sumi-e artist Joan Lok, painted on Japanese Shikishi board with Sumi-e Ink and watercolor. The morning glory piece layers detail contours over expressive freehand strokes to capture the beauty of morning glory. For the cherry blossom piece, Joan uses expressive freehand strokes to capture the fleeting beauty of cherry blossoms, a symbol of spring in the Greater Metro DC. Joan Lok, a long-time friend of Peggy Ann Duke, is a master sumi-e artist known for her floral subjects. Her artworks won numerous awards including the Best of Show from the Sumi-e Society of America and Sumi-e Artists of Canada Joint Exhibition, the Kyoto Education Council Award in Japan, the National Cherry Blossom Festival Award in Washington DC, and the Best in Show from the Central Florida Watercolor Society consecutively in 2023 and 2024. Joan is listed in Who’s Who of American Art, and Who’s Who in American Women. Her best-selling art instruction book, Chinese Brush Painting: Flowers, is available in English, Dutch, French, Italian and Spanish. Her artworks are published in The Best of Flower Paintings, and Strokes of Genius. Visit www.joanlok.com to contact Joan, view her artworks and join her online workshops.
